Each home visit undertaken by a GP utilises sufficient time to account for 3-4 surgery consultations.
It is also important to note that domiciliary consultations are not ideally suited for certain specific physical assessments, especially those that need a controlled environment and specialised examination equipment which may not be portable.
Hence, home visits are generally restricted to attend to the urgent medical needs of patients who are strictly house-bound due to terminal illness and/or severe physical disability.
If you think you need a GP’s home visit, then kindly let the receptionist know of your request. The same will be discussed with the duty doctor who will decide on the most appropriate way to help with your request. If practicable, please log your request early in the day, to assist us with planning our work schedule in the most efficient manner.
